The eco shopping guide for Recessionistas

The rise of the Recessionista has seen disposable fashion become increasingly popular. With trends changing faster than seasons arrive, keeping a  mode is a feat of humanity!
Constant clothes sales and dropping prices mean that throwaway clothing is cheaper and easier to purchase with less people investing in a ‘classic’ item that will surpass the changing fashions. It’s unfortunate to see the traditional, ‘make do and mend’ ethos lose itself in piles upon piles of reduced clothing.
However, with the rise in environmental awareness, it’s encouraging to see more people making the small changes that will benefit future generations. The internet has been a breeding ground for eco-friendly websites that bring together like minded people to share ideas about the ways we can make changes to our everyday lives.
Sustainable fashion doesn’t mean changing what you wear, just where you get it from. Choose clothes that are ethically sourced, remake and refresh tired clothing and continue to find ways to shop without spending. You can always find entertaining alternatives to satisfy your retail cravings whilst caring about your environmental impact!
